Chinese traditional thought of the Doctrine of the Mean is of great enlightenment on the development of modern music whileas the limitless exploitation of music resources caused by extreme thinking in culture of the West may have negative effect on the future development of music in respects of musical harmony and form.The Doctrine of the Mean in Chinese traditional culture may avoid these two extremes and is of benefit to the future development of music.
