Based on the introduction of middleware technology, a new middleware implementation named ICE (Internet communication engine) which is developed by ZeroC company is fully described here. Along with a given example of server/client programming framework, the design, analysis and developing process of application architecture using ICE is well represented.In the end, comparison between ICE and the industrially standardized middleware COBRA is given, which further explain the bright future of ICE and its potential competing capability in middleware market.
