This article studies the level rhetoric approach in EST, and analyzes, through examples, the applications and functions of the approach. The purpose of the approach is to help translators make clear the relationships between different levels of a discourse and the logical connections between different parts of a discourse in translating the discourse from English into Chinese. Therefore, this approach may produce an accurate, well knit and coherent translation. [
