过犹不及——浅论译文的归化问题

On Domesticating in Translation:A Case Study

译文的归化和异化是翻译理论界集中讨论的一个话题。一般认为 ,过度的异化是应当摒弃的 ,而归化则往往容易被人接受。但是通过对 Tess of the d'Urbervilles两种译本的对比研究 ,我们发现译文中过度的归化也是有很大弊病的。好的译文应该掌握好异化和归化的度 ,做到恰到好处。

The problem of foreignizing and domesticating in translation is often discussed in translation studies. While the former is often criticized by critics, the latter is widely accepted among both translators and critics. However, by comparing two Chinese versions of Tess of the d'Urbervilles,we find that over domesticating in translation has some drawbacks. A good translation should make an appropriate use of both foreignizing and domesticating.
