《说文解字》形声字甲骨文源字考──论形声字的形成途径

How Do the Pictophonetic Characters in Shuowen Jiezi (说文解字) Originate from the Inscriptions on Bones or Tortoise Shells ──On the Ways of Producing Pictophonetic Characters

本文普查《说文》形声字的甲骨文源字，提出形声字的主要形成途径：（１）加注形符；（２）加注声符；（３）形、声结合；（４）改换表意字部分形体为声符；（５）后起形声字替代非形声字；（６）字形讹变而析为形声字。

Having compared the pictophonetic characters in Shuowen Jiezi (说文解字) with the inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells which are the origins of Chinese characters, the author put forward six principal ways of the inscriptions' becoming into pictophones. The ways are as follows: (1)adding a pictogrsphic sign; (2)adding a phonetic sign; (3)putting two signs together, with one indicating the meaning and the other the sound; (4) changing part of an ideograph into a phonetic sign; (5) making a new pictophone to replace the inscription which is not pictophonetic, and (6), regarding erroneous forms as pictophonetic characters.
