The present situation of the Indians in Brazil and the relevant policies of the government

本文介绍了巴西印第安人的历史与现状、巴西官方印第安人政策的发展过程 ,以及近十余年间巴西政府对印第安人的宪法保护、设立土著保留地、发展文化教育、引进外资促进开发等举措。文章认为 ,巴西政府对印第安人的新政策切合实际 ,但也存在着由于大庄园主的破坏 。

This article presents an account of the history and present situation of the Indians in Brazil, the evolving course of Brazil's official policies towards Indians and the measures concerning the Indians taken by the Brazian government in recent more than 10 years such as the Constitutional protection for the Indians, the demarcation of aboriginal reservations, the development of cultural education for Indians and promoting the development of the Indian ethnic areas through introducing foreign funds.The article holds that the Brazian government's new policy towards Indians is correct and practical although there are also some problems such as the lack of the guarantee for the security of the Indian traditional reservations because of the sabotage by the powerful manor owners.
