摘要
面临由大学基础英语向专业英语过渡这一迫切任务的医学院校学生需要积极适当的鼓励、引导和帮助，其中包括精心设计的教材和行之有效的教学方法。本文简要介绍按照将医学和英语有机结合的原则所编写的《新世纪医学英语教程》上册[生物医学]和下册[社会医学]，同时，阐述在课堂上强调注重输出阅读的新教学思想，以期在全国外语界提高外语教学质量和效果的努力中取得突破。
Confronted with an imperative transition from college general English to subjected related English, medical students need encouragement, guidance and assistance, including well compiled textbooks and effective learning strategies. This paper presents introduction of New Century Medical English Course-1) Biological Medicine and 2) Social Medicine, which is compiled under the principle of organically integrating English with medical knowledge. With emphasis on the pedagogical notion of productive reading in class, the textbook aims at achieving new breakthroughs in the nation wide endeavor to improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching English as a foreign language in China.
