On Contextual Correlates of Adaptability and its Constraints on Word Meaning

本文从语境关系顺应论的观点出发 ,着重探讨语境顺应对词义的影响 ,特别是在科技翻译中对词语意义的制约。文章从以下几个方面进行阐述 ;语境关系顺应限制了词语的词典语义 ;语境关系顺应补充了词语的省略义 ;语境关系顺应增添了词语的文化含义。

This paper,from the perspective of contextual correlates of adaptability theory,aims to study the constraints of context adaptation on the choice of word meaning in science and technology translation From the discussion,we conclude that contextual correlates of adaptability can affect word meaning in translation in several aspects.It can help limit word meaning,add up elliptic meaning as well as cultural meaning.
