汉英称赞应对模式比较

The Comparison of Patterns of Chinese and English Compliment Responses

随着跨文化交际学在中国的发展 ,越来越多的学者注意到研究这门学科对中国外语教学的深远影响以及在文化传播方面的作用。而研究某种特定的言语行为也就变得极为重要。以前许多学者认为汉英语言在称赞应对方面存在着极大的差异。认为中国人比较崇尚谦虚 ,因此喜欢否定别人对自己的称赞来显示出自己谦逊的一面。但随着社会的发展 ,周围环境的影响 ,我们的言语行为是否会发生变化呢 ?汉英的称赞应对模式真的存在着那么大的区别吗 ?因此笔者收集了 1,2 80条称赞应对 ,并逐条进行分析 ,并将结果同Herbert在 1989年所作的调查作了一次比较 ,发现汉语中的称赞应对现在有较大比例是属于同意别人的称赞 ,与英文中的此类比例是很相近的。本文研究结果在某种程度上表明了中国语言的发展变化与英文的影响是密切相关的 。

With the rapid development of intercultural communication in China, more and more scholars have noticed how important it is for learners of English as a foreign language. In the process of studying cultural differences, the comparison of certain speech acts is also considered significant. In the past, many scholars believed that there was a clear difference between the compliment responses in Chinese and English. However, will our language have some slight changes with the development of society and the influence of the environment? In order to study the difference between the two kinds of languages, 1,280 pairs of compliment and compliment responses were collected, analyzed and categorized. After comparing the result with that of Herbert (1989), it is found that Chinese compliment responses are very similar to those of English, and many can be categorized as Acceptance. Therefore, we should be careful in drawing conclusions about the differences in this aspect.
