A Comparison Between English and Chinese Affixation

英语和汉语属于完全不同语系的两种语言 ,有着各自不同的构词方法。英语是形态语言 ,词缀作为其中一种构词手段十分活跃。汉语是非形态语言 ,原本没有词缀。现代汉语由于受到印欧语言的影响产生了不少词缀现象。对比和分析英汉两种语言中的词缀——前缀、中缀、后缀 。

English and Chinese have their respective word formations as they are different languages from different language families. English, as a morphological language, has very reproductive affixation while Chinese, a non morphological language, had originally no affixation. Under the influence of Indo European languages, the modern Chinese has taken on affixation of some kind as its word formation. A comparison between the two different languages shows the surprising similarities in both the forms and meanings of their affixes including prefixes, infixes and suffixes while their differences are obvious.
