New Situation of U.S. Russia Rivalry for the Central Asia

普京执政后审时度势，采取一系列富有“进取心”的措施，发起了对中亚的外交攻势，争得了在中亚与美竞争中的较为有利的位置，但尚未从根本上扭转与美竞争中的防守局面，中亚地区的总的争夺态势仍是美攻俄守。均衡化将是未来中亚地区美俄竞争格局的基本发展方向。

After coming into office, President Vladimir Putin has seized the opportunity to take a series of “initiative' steps to launch diplomatic campaigns aimed at the Central Asia and attained a relatively favorable position. But Russia still takes a defensive position. In Central Asia, the U.S. offensive posture remains unchanged. The future development of situation in Central Asia may turn into a balance of offensive vis-a- vis defensive between the U.S. and Russia.
