摘要
本文结合国内外有关外语教学法研究领域的成果,围绕大学英语教学中怎么选定教学方法才最符合实际需要的中心议题展开讨论.文章从'approach'、'method'和'technique'的视角分析了'教学法'的内涵,并结合对中国人教学外语主要特点、以及对教学方法必然受制于教学目的等问题的探讨,提出大学英语教学中最理想的教学模式,即:多特点、多目的、多方法的教学模式.
This paper discusses methodological issues in teaching English as a service course at university in China. After a brief study of the major approaches and methods that have been used or proposed for foreign language teaching both in China and in the West, it goes on to analyze some of the outstanding features that pre\|condition the adoption of any particular approach, method or technique in the Chinese College English classroom: the English level of Chinese students when they enter university and their learning habits; the relevance of teaching and learning purposes; etc. It is the author's view that the best approach to take in teaching College English to non\|English majors is that which closely integrates student features and teaching purposes.
