An Analytic Study on Why Marxism was Chosen in the May Fourth Movement Period in China

马克思主义之所以能在中国广泛传播并迅速地扎根,是与中国知识分子的先锋与桥梁作用分不开的。五四运动前后中国之所以能选择马克思主义,不仅是近代以降先进的中国人向西方探索救国救民真理的最终必然结果,而且是中国工人阶级的发展壮大及其斗争的实践需要,更是当时国内外时代背景下中国思想界对西方资本主义制度及其弊端进行反思的正确抉择。

The fact that Marxism spreads and takes root rapidly and extensively in China can't be separated from the Chinese intellectual's function as the pioneer and bridger. That China choose Marxism in the period of May Fourth Movement, as I think, is not only the outcome of the Chinese exploration learnt from the western world to save the nation, but also the need of the Chinese working class development, moreover, it is a correct choice that review to western capitalist system and its drawback under the domestic and international background at that time.
