Independent Colleges: A Survey of Autonomous Learning Ability

自主学习能力对于英语学习者来说非常重要。通过问卷和访谈的形式对国有民办二级学院学生英语课外学习的自主性进行了调查,发现学生课外投入到英语学习的时间很少,学生课外自主学习的能力较弱,除"读"以外,其他语言技能都较弱,特别是"说"。对这部分学生课堂教学要注意培养学生的学习能力,提高他们学习的自主性,并为他们提供课堂语言环境,多开展"说"的练习。

The survey made by the author, with questionnaire and interview, about the autonomous English language learning ability of the students in independent colleges (state-owned but privately-run) shows that outside class, the students dedicated little time to English learning; lack of the autonomous language learning ability, they are generally poor in all the language skills except reading, and especially speaking. For these students, therefore, in classroom teaching, special effort should be made to improve their learning ability, especially to develop their autonomous learning ability, and to create language environment in class so that they can have more practice in English speaking.
