太谷学派简论

On Taigu School

太谷学派是清代嘉庆以后的一个民间儒家学派,首尾活动百年有余。学派的宗旨在于加强自身修养,走造就"圣人"的成功之路;一生为民众做有益的事,以达到"祈天永命"之目的。太谷学派接近民众,对儒学的研究多有创新。学派的思想渊源与宋代理学并无关系,而直承《周易》、《论语》等儒家经典。

Taigu School, as a folk Confucianist school, came into being after the Jiaqing Period in the Qing Dynasty. Its academic research lasted more than a century. Taigu School aimed at expounding the view of how to be a sage' by enhancing the self-cultivation and of how to live in the hearts of the people forever' by doing something useful for the people. Owing to its close contact with the masses of the people, it had many new ideas about the Confucian thought. Its original thought did not originate from the Confucian doctrine of the Song Dynasty', but directly followed the doctrine of the Confucian classics: The Book of Changes and The Analects of Confucius.
