New Explanation on the Origin of Book of Rites

对《礼记》的来源,目前学术界的看法仍不一致:或日戴圣纂辑,或谓非成于一时、一人之手;或言成书于西汉,或云成书于东汉。且具体说法又各个不同,迄今无定论。文章通过对相关史料及学人们观点的梳理分析,认为孟卿已有一基本传本,至后仓该本已基本定型,小戴的《礼记》,即来自后仓之《礼记》。

Dispute exists in the academic circle on the origin of Book of Rites. Some say that it was compiled by Dai Sheng. Some say that it was not finished by one person or at certain time. Some say that it was accomplished in the Xi Han Dynasty and some say in the Dong Han Dynasty. No agreement has been reached till now. This paper makes an analysis of relevant historical materials and scholars' ideas and conies to the conclusion that Meng Qing has already had a basic edition and then Hou Cang finished the book. Dai's Book of Rites is the Book of Rites of Hou Cang.
