A Study of Gender Variants in Russian and Their Origin

对语言与性别关系的研究最早始于古希腊罗马时期。研究表明,女性语言在语音、词汇和语法方面均有独特之处。造成语言的性别差异的原因大体可归纳为社会角色、文化素养和心理状况的不同。男女性别意识是在社会原型、规范和规定的支撑下形成的,研究性别语言变体的目的在于分析父权制社会通过性别角色和关系所确立的男性权力和主导地位对于语言使用的影响。

The study of the relationship between language and gender started in ancient Greece and Rome. Studies have shown that the language of women is peculiar in pronunciation and intonation, vocabulary and grammar. The causes of the differences between men and women can be attributed to the differences in social roles, cultural and psychological status. The awareness of gender difference results from social stereotypes and institutions. The purpose of the study of gender differences in language is to explore the influence from men's power and dominant status that have resulted from the gender roles and relations established in the patriarchal society.
