Five key enabling techniques, which deal with project and role management, drawing-document management, product structure and configuration, version and typical work flow management, and integration interface with commercial CAD systems, are studied in detail for developing the correspondent toolkit attached to the Web-PDM service system. This system can be used to provide product data management services for middle and small scale companies and extended enterprises.
