陈白沙的学生——新会县令丁积

About Ding Ji, a Student of Chen Baisha's and a Former County Magistrate of Xinhui

丁积于明成化年间任新会知县。来到新会后,师于白沙先生。在白沙的指点下,丁积治县有方,成为一位很有作为的知县。他为人正直不阿,仕不为己,切于济民。丁积在新会当了六年知县,政绩卓著。白沙给丁积写了二十多首诗,或称赞,或勉励,或奉和,对他倍加激赏。

Ding Ji was the county magistrate of Xinhui during the Chenghua reign period of Ming dynasty. After he came to Xinhui, he studied under Chen Baisha in his spare time. With the counsels of Chen Baisha, Ding managed the county very well and became a county magistrate of great achievements. He was upright, unselfish, and cared about the sufferings of his people. During his six years at Xinhui as its county magistrate, because of his outstanding administrative achievements, Chen Baisha wrote over twenty poems for him, praising or encouraging him, or in replying to Ding's poems. Chen showed great appreciation of him. 
