Recognize Once Again the "Age of Literature Awareness

中国古代文学史上“文学的自觉时代”始于何时的问题 ,上一个世纪曾出现多种说法。本文不同意“形成于西汉中期”说 ,认为“形成于魏晋”和“形成于魏晋南北朝”说时限太宽泛 ,也晚了一些 ,应该是肇始于东汉中后期 ,形成于汉末、魏初 。

There were several different arguments last century concerning the problem of when the 'Age of Literature Awareness' got started in the history of ancient Chinese literature. This article expressed the disagreement to the argument that it was formed in the middle of West Han but maintains that it is too sweeping to say that 'It took shape in the Wei and Jin Dynasties' or to say 'It started in Wei, Jin and Northern and Southern Dynasties', which sounds bit too late. It is more suitable to say that it started in the middle and late Eastern Han and took its shape at the end of the Han and beginning of the Wei Dynasties, i.e., during the reign of Jian'an.
