This paper opines that since the mid-1970s there has emerged in Chinese University of Hong Kong a literary school-'Shatian School' composed of professors, scholars and doctors from Taiwan, America, Canada and Hong Kong with Yu Guang-zhong, Huang Guo-bin, Liang Xi-hua, Huang Wei-liang and Cai Si-guo at the core. Nurtured in the landscape of Baxian Ridge and Tulu Harbour, scholars of 'Shatian School' have once taken the lead in prose and poetry writing in China's Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. What is more, they have also advanced many insightful views on literature reform, literary criticism and literary translation, thereby having formed an unprecedented and independent collegiate literary school. The Shatian School, which has developed continuously for 10-odd years and still been active up till now, has unique literary value in the history of contemporary Chinese literature.
