Geopolitical Changes in Xiyu and China's Security

随着冷战结束之后地缘政治的急剧变动和全球化进程与中国改革开放速度的同时加快 ,西域越来越成为对中国有着重大战略利益的地区。我们还来不及对所有与西域有关的问题进行研究 ,只是强烈关注西域在安全、能源等领域对中国的影响 ,同时 ,我们还坚信 ,制定一项考虑周全的西域战略应该进入政策研究者和决策者的视野。

With the rapid changes in geopolitics of the post Cold War and the accelerative development of globalization and China's reform, Xiyu (a geo-historical term that means Western Region in ancient China and refers to West Asia, South Asia, Central Asia and Caucasian region in this paper) has inevitably become an area with strategic significance to China. We are not yet able to study all aspects of the issues relevant to Xiyu, but we just pay serious attention to the influence of Xiyu on China' security and energy supply in the future. Meanwhile we firmly believe that the formulation of a Xiyu strategy with careful consideration should be listed on the agenda of the policy researchers and decision-makers in China.
