在许多历史文献资料中,都提到了一个名叫马可·波罗的威尼斯人.他在元代来到中国并留居十余年,游历乃至在元朝地方政府任职.回国后,他写下了著名的《马可 ·波罗行记》,但因其中存在很多纰漏而使其中国之行的真实性受到质疑.

AVenetian namedMark Polo, who traveled to China in the Yuan Dynasty, even held a post in the local government. After his return to his motherland, he wrote a book which is known as ”Mark Polo's Journey to China”. Due to the careless mistakes in the book, the reality of his journey to China has always been op-pugned.
