摘要
法律英语是一门有别于普通英语的工具性语言。作为一门法律习惯语言,它具有许多独具特色的语言特征。文章通过探讨法律英语对被赋予新义的普通英语词汇、中古英语、外来词、专用术语、模糊语言的广泛运用及其对用词准确的强调,分析了法律英语语言的基本特征。
The law English is an instrumental language which is quite distinct from ordinary English. As a customary language of law, it has special characteristics. By discussing the wide use of common words with uncommon meanings, the archaisms, the borrowed words, terms, expressions with flexible meanings and the attempts at extreme precision of expressions in law English, the article analyzes the basic characteristics of the law English.
