民间说唱文学是土生土长的口头传承文学。它的流布规则一是没有文本而依靠严格的师徒间口耳相传的师承规则;二是依循中国民众的思维定式及模式化艺术欣赏规则;三是贴近现实生活和创作因时而变的发展规则。

Story-telling and ballad-singing in China have been spread through oral instruction from the master to the apprentice without written form; they have been created by the artists on fixed patterns of thinking and appreciation; they are close to life and have developed in accordance with the times.
