The textbook issue, happening in Japan time and again, has become a blasting fuse causing constant troubles in Sino_Japanese relations. The main purpose of Zhao's article is to reveal the truth of the issue by recalling the historical facts since the ending of WWII and displaying all available evidences to show how some Japanese dared to distort history and what was their real purpose. The burst of textbook issue began in 1982. Now, 20 years later, the textbook issue happened again in 2000. Beautification of modern Japan's history of aggression and reversing the aggressive war waged by Japan once again occurred in the textbooks presented for the authority's approval, Zhao points out that the guiding ideology of the textbooks is to indoctrinate Japanese youth with the idea that“Japan is a divine country with the Emperor as a nucleus.' Zhao says that the textbook issue is a long_standing one. As early as in 1952, Japan's rightist force began a campaign against the textbooks used by primary and middle schools at that time. Since then, three surges over textbook issue were observed in Japan. The purpose of all these forces was “to shape up contemporary Japanese once again” and “to forge our children into Japanese with a willpower stronger than those in the Heisei age.”
