摘要
Beginning with the analysis of changes caused by educational innovation involving syllabus design and new teaching materials development, this paper, based on the needs analysis of teacher’s knowledge, focuses on the necessary conditions to influence teacher development and feasible areas of teacher development influenced by the new teaching materials, followed by a case study of the utilisation of “New Standard English” (NSE) in the Chinese context. This paper attempts to demonstrate that new classroom teaching materials can serve as an important agent for teacher development.
