理性与现代性——兼论当代中国现代性的建构

Reason and Modernity: Construction of Chinese Modernity

"理性"是现代性的一个基本要素,它是认识之源、价值之源,是所有人类精神意识的最高表现与成就,是事物的现实性的标准,"理性化"因而成为现代性的标志性符号。建构当代中国的现代性,有必要运用理性与理性化概念来解释有关的对象与事实;要深化对现代性的理性本质的认识,而五四运动在对此问题的认识上有所不足;中国现在还不是侈谈"后现代"的时候,在现代性的进程上,无疑我们与西方社会之间存在一个时间差。现代性的许多规范,我们还未建立或完善起来。而规范是需要理性来建立与完善的。

As one of the fundamental elements of modernity, reason is regarded as the source of knowledge and values, the summit representation and achievements of all human spirits, and the criterion of the reality of things, hence rationalization becomes the symbol of modernity. To construct Chinese modernity, it is necessary to apply the concepts of reason and rationalization to explain the relative objects and facts. May Fourth Movement did not get a full understanding of the essence of modernity. Now it is not the right time for Chinese to prattle about postmodern, for in the course of modernity, China still remains a distance with the Western countries. Many norms are still not yet established or need perfecting, so reason is required for doing all of these things.
