Based on Hertz's Diaries and related literatures, a careful investigation about his experimental researches on the cathode rays is made. It is revealed that a series of his experimental researches had made an important basis to show the whole characteristics of the cathode rays, and gave a direct influence on P. Lenard and J. J. Thomson.
