A Simplified Threshold-based Admission Control Strategy for Multime dia Servers

摘要 在线多媒体业务中,主机和网络瓶颈限制了系统能提供的最大服务量。如何保证用户的服务质量,对不同服务类的请求进行接纳控制,从而使系统获得最大的收益成为关注的焦点。该文分析比较了原有接纳控制机制,提出了一种新的简化的基于动态阈值的策略,能够在保持接纳灵活性的同时保证高级用户的优先性。理论分析和模拟仿真表明,该策略相对于以往几种接纳策略具有一定优势,且这种优势随着高级服务密度的增大及其收益率的提高而越发明显。 Because of the restriction of the host and the network,a multimedia server must employ a proper strategy to make admission control decisions to achieve more profits without violating the quality of service(QoS)of clients admitted.This paper compares the existing threshold based admission control strategies and presents a novel admission control strategy for multimedia servers which:(1)provides more guarantees to senior clients,and(2)keeps the flexibility at the same time.The effectiveness of the strategy is demonstrated through the theoretical analyses and simulations.
