The regioselective demethylation reaction has great significance for the modification, conversion and synthesis of natural products:The regioselective demethylation of 4- or 2-positions in 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoate, 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoic acid and 1,2,3-trimethoxybenzene catalyzed by CH_3SO_3H is first reported in this paper. It gives a new method for demethylation.
