中国当代文学,既经受了政治压力之重,又经受了经济驱动之轻,所以从上世纪末的众语喧哗到新世纪的风平浪静是有其社会和文学发展的必然原因的。新世纪文学继上世纪80年代中后期之后又一次呈现"向内转"的特点,深入人的心灵与精神层面,使文学名副其实地臻于人学的领域,在叙事上既重视故事又超越故事,既重视本文实验又考虑读者接受,显示了不同创作方法与思潮的交融互补。进入新世纪,中国当代文学的分期与命名又可有些新的设想,以适应研究与教学的需要。

Contemporary literature stands not only the seriously political pressure, but slight economy drive as well. So it has the inevitable reason of social and literary development, from the opinions vary in the end of the last century to be calm in the new century. The characteristic e.g. 'inwards transferring' of the literature in the new century appears again since the mid-or late-1980s in last century, which deepends people;s soul and spirit, and make literature attain to the field of manology. Literature has shown the blending and complementary between different creative method and ideological trend, because it pays attention to the story as well as surmounts the story in narrating,and pays attention to the experiment of the text as well as consider readers' acceptable ability. Contemporary literature in China should have some new ideals by stages and name, in order to meet the needs of the research and teaching in the new century.
