Overseas Trade and the Economy of Mingzhou in the Tang and Song

海外贸易在唐宋时期整个国家的社会经济中总体处于无足轻重的地位,但就作为局部地区的明州而言,海外贸易与该地区区域地位的提升、商贸的发展、产业结构的变化都有着莫大的关系。从这个角度而言,海外贸易是唐宋时期明州地区社会经济发展的外在推动力。

In the Tang and Song dynasties, overseas trade was of little importance in the economy of the country. However, in Mingzhou area, it is overseas trade that contributed tremendously to the rise of the area, the development of the commerce and trade, and the transformation of the industrial structure and in a sense, overseas trade in Mingzhou played an important role in the social and economic development of the area in the time.
