The instruction of vocal music at normal colleges should fully embody the content of comprehensive vocal music instruction, that is, besides practice in the basic skills of vocal music, great pains should be taken to delve into the artistic connotation and to mirror the artistic sentiment of songs through vocal music skills so as to attain the artistic state of excellent sound and emotions. This paper attempts to highlight the necessity of stressing the study of the artistic treatment of songs in the instruction of vocal music at normal colleges by expounding on the importance of artistic treatment of songs.
