The overseas and domestic research circumstances and commercial development of ethyl acetate produced by self - condensation of acetaldehyde were introduced. The technological process of commercial unit, manufacture of the catalyst, purification of the product and the consumption quota were reviewed. The author believes that the acetaldehyde condensation method is still the most economical method for the area that is rich in acetaldehyde.
