The Schema Theory and Theme-based College English Teaching

The characteristics of the theme-based college English textbook show that evoking the existing schematic knowledge is the key to success in teaching .Three steps can be taken in the actual teaching process: (1)To activate the students’ existing schematic knowledge to understand new language information; (2)To help students form new schema; (3)To encourage students to apply the new schema to practice in language output.
