In the tragedy Romsersholm, Rebecca ,'a liberated female', she lead the death of the hero Johanners Rosmer's wife ,but commits suicide before she becomes the new hostess.To the author, Rebecca's tragedy is decided by her special psychological contradictions, between the new and the old idea's fierce fight, she can't free herself from the old idea's rule, at last obey the traditional morals'pressure.Her tragedy is the psychological tragedy, her contradictions represent the people's special contradictions in the transforming era.
