隐元大师终老日本原因探微——兼与日本学者大干郎商榷

On the Reason Why the Great Master Yin Yuan Chose to Stay in Japan until His Death

日本学者大干郎认为,隐元大师终老日本的原因,是因为清廷实行闭关锁海政策。本文提出不同看法,认为隐元大师终老日本的原因并非由于清廷锁海政策,主要是其持鲜明的抗清复明誓不降清态度。由于反清复明无望,他以遗民僧身份终老日本。

According to a Japanese scholar, Oki Kanro, the Great Master, Yin Yuan chose to stay in Japan until his death due to the reason that the Qing Dynasty at the time adopted the closed-door policy. However, that is not the case. The real reason is that, as this thesis holds, the Great Master had been sticking to the belief to topple the Qing Dynasty and to restore the Ming Dynasty and refusing to become one of the subjects of the former, it is due to the disillusion of his ambition that he later decided to stay in Japan until his death as an adherent to Ming Dynasty.
