句子转换在翻译科技英语定语从句时的作用

Application of Conversion in Technical Translating

本文从两个方面论述了句子转换在翻译英语定语从句时的作用。一是在翻译过长的限定性从句时 ,将定语从句转换为谓语部分或转换成汉语复句的分句 ,从而使译文符合汉语习惯并便于读者理解 ;二是将这样一类英语限定性或非限定性定语从句———它们所含说明主句的条件、原因、让步、总结、目的、转折等情况意义———转换为汉语偏正复句中的分句 ,从而更明确、完整地表达原文的意义。

This thesis discusses the application of conversion from two aspects in translating adjective clauses from English into Chinese. First, convert long restrictive clause to predicate or a clause of a multiple sentence in Chinese so as to match with Chinese language habits; Second, convert the English restrictive and non-restrictive clauses into the clause of Chinese multiple sentence to express completely the meaning of the original text.
