摘要
本文作者认为中国学派的文学翻译理论是20世纪全世界最先进的译论,因为世界上约有2/5的人使用中文或英文,而只有中国译论能解决中英互译的难题.如果一首诗从中文译成英文需要1小时,同一首诗从英文译成法文则最多只要半小时.中英互译难于西方文字互译,中国译论能解决西方译论所不能解决的问题,所以不能说中国译论落后于西方.
Literary translation theories of Chinese school are the most advanced in the world of the 20th century. About two fifths of the poeple in the world either use the Chinese language or the English, and only the Chinese school can solve the difficult problems in translating into these two languages. If it takes one hour to translate a poem from Chinese into English, it would only take half an hour to translate the same poem from English into French. This shows translation from or into Chinese is more difficult than that from one Western language into another. Chinese theories can solve problems which Western theories cannot. Therefore, it is wrong to say that translation theories of Chinese school lag behind those of the West.
