DSP was invented in 1978 by AMI, there has been 35 years up to now. TI did not invent DSP, butthe company did something far better. They introduced first general purpose DSP in 1982,and turnedDSP into a profitable business. This deserves a quick history lesson on the technology.As market growing, technology developing, applications broadening, the competition becomesfierce and fierce. Targeting TI, several main vendors by the way of alliances plan to increase theircompetition.Celebrating its 35th anniversary, Intel faced with softening demand for faster microprocessors, thecompany is revising its play.Instead of betting heavily on a single next-generation product as it oftenhas in the past, Intel is now spreading its bets among several emerging markets including mobiledevice chip sets.
