Automobile industry is both capital intensive and technol-ogy intensive. It is regarded as the backbone industrystrongly supported by our government. Due to the increas-ingly openness after the entering of WTO, the automobileindustry will have to face a more open and competitivemarket. Being proud of their past, the automobile enterprisesare now confronted with the big technology gap betweenthem and their foreign competitors. The technology gap cov-ers many aspects including automobile design, productiontechnology, production scale and informationaliztion of thewhole industry. With the development of high technology, itis of great importance to drive the reconstruction of tradi-tional industries through informationalization.
