A Scalable Software Architecture for Packet Classification

摘要 提出了一个可扩展的路由器软件架构BVFilter,它将多个包分类集中在一个分类器中完成,实现一个包分类为多个所用,减少了包分类的开销。性能评价模拟实验显示出BVFilter架构具有良好的扩展性:采用BVFilter处理 6 个包分类过程的时间仅比处理1个的时间高出13%,而采用传统软件架构时则高出314%。 This paper describes a new software architecture called BVFilter, in which many packet classifications are combined to complete in one step, thereby the overheads are lowered, and the speed is improved. Experimental performance evaluation shows BVFilter is more scalable. In the experiment, 13% more time is spent in six classifications than that in one classification under BVFilter, while 314% more time is spent under a traditional architecture.
