On the Connotation of Hu Hong's Theory of Ren

胡宏的仁说包括三方面的内容:对仁体的描述,求仁之学和仁政思想。仁体是合于天地、禀于人心的普遍的存在原理与创生原理;求仁之学以识仁之体为下手处;仁政思想是求仁之学的落实与特殊化。

The Hu Hong's theory on Ren is composed of three aspects, that is, the description of the object of Ren; the methodology of pursuing Ren and the thinking of the politics with Ren as its core. The object of Ren, which is harmonious with Dao and is embodied in human mind, is a universal principle of existence and creation. The methodology of pursuing Ren is a most effective method to understand the object of Ren. The politics with Ren as its core, which is aimed at the emperor's governance, is the realization of the methodology of pursuing Ren.
