蒙文通先生是我国现代杰出的历史学家和经学家 ,《蒙文通文集》所收著述 ,表现了他在宋史研究方面成果硕大。他把治经成果和方法引入历史研究 ,精研理学 ,哲史相通 ,明确提出唐宋之际社会的全面变革 ,深入辨析熙丰变法和宋代的商品经济 ,着力构建宋代史学史的新体系等 ,可谓自成体系 ,创见卓立 ,教书育人 ,荦荦大家 ,是我国现代宋史学的奠基人之一。

Professor Meng Wentong is an outstanding historian and scholar of Jing Xue in modern China whose academic studies are characterized by broadness, profundity and brilliant achievements. According to Collection of Meng Wentong, he achieves a lot in the study of Song history as well. He applies the fruits and methods in the study of Jing Xue to historical studies, makes a thorough research of Li Xue, combines the study of philosophy with that of history, states clearly the overall reform in the transitional period between the end of Tang and the beginning of Song Dynasty, expounds deeply Xifeng Reform and commodity economy in the Song Dynasty, devotes to framing a new system of the study of Song history, and succeeds in fostering personnel of historical study. In one word, he is one of the founders of the study of Song history in modern China with an independent academic system, original and creative views, successful teaching and educating experiences and a great reputation as a scholar.
