The working principle and features of short-circuit current limitation by series reactor were introduced, as well as the typical application examples and manufacturing level of current-limiting series reactors in EHV power transmission grid, the ANSI standard on series reactors and the application guidance from PJM power grid in USA. According to the analytical conclusion on the short-circuit current level of the East China Power Grid, the design of parameters and installation location of the series reactors were analyzed preliminarily.
