The manufacturing process, necessary equipment and matters needing attention for the manufacture of aluminium alloy rod are presented. Especially detail introduction is made to the 5-wheel continuous casting machine and measures to improve the machine is suggested. A state-of-the-art continuous casting and rolling line for the manufacture of aluminium alloy rod has been built in HanCable Group Co., Ltd., Qingdao, by which a capacity of producing 10 000t of aluminium alloy conductors annually has been formed.
