Mao Zedong paid close attention to Li Zicheng's 'roving bandit's doctr ine' and his retreat in defeat soon after entering the capital. Then using histo ry as a guide and mirror, Mao warned communist members against repeating pride o f victory and mistakes of corruption after being in power.
