The precondition and essentiality of development of coal chemical industry is elucidated. ″The Program Outline for the Medium and Long Term Development of Energy″ should be carried out earnestly for a sustainable development and effective utilization of energy. The product mix should be adjusted, the field of competitive products be developed, the increasing mode be changed and the science and technology content in the economic development be increased so that the leading status and strategic significance of coal chemical industry can be truly materialized.
