摘要
高血压现已成为一个公众普遍关注的健康问题，它影响着全世界大约10亿人。在50岁以上的心血管疾病患者中，高血压是最常见而又可以进行治疗的危险因素。在英国35岁至64岁的人群中，估计高血压(血压大于140／90mmHg)的患病率可达42％。通过治疗高血压，预期在心血管疾病的预防方面可获得巨大收益。然而，在欧洲国家——尤其是英国，高血压控制仍很差。
